How to do a hotel group displacement analysis with Claude
Every group inquiry is a trade: the block's rooms and F&B against the transient business it would push out. The Revenue Management skill runs a displacement analysis for every group of 10+ rooms that Sales brings in and comes back with accept, accept with a floor adjustment, decline or alternate dates — with the math.
What you need
- Claude (Claude.ai in your browser — the free tier works for short tests — or Claude Code) with the Revenue Management skill loaded
- The group inquiry: dates, rooms per night, offered rate and expected F&B
- Pace and STLY for those dates
Step by step
- Load the Revenue Management skill. In Claude.ai, create a Project and paste the Revenue Management SKILL.md into its instructions — or run
npx hotel-team-skills installonce and use Claude Code, which picks the right skill from your prompt. - Share the inquiry and the pace. Paste the group's dates, room nights, rate and banquet plans, plus your pace and same-time-last-year for those dates.
- Ask for the analysis. Ask: “Score the displacement on a 110-room block next month.” (Use your own block size and dates.)
- Read the contribution comparison. The skill estimates likely transient demand, displaced ADR × rooms × nights, the group's F&B contribution, and compares total contribution of the group offer against the transient revenue at risk.
- Hand the answer back to Sales. Use the recommendation — accept, adjust the floor, decline or offer alternate dates — in the RFP response.
"Score the displacement on a 110-room block next month."
What a good result covers
This is the workflow the Revenue Management skill follows, quoted from its SKILL.md:
Group displacement analysis
For every group inquiry from Sales (10+ rooms), produce a displacement analysis:
- Likely transient demand on those dates (from pace + STLY)
- Estimated displaced ADR x rooms x nights = displaced rooms revenue
- F&B contribution from group (banquet revenue, outlets uplift)
- Total contribution comparison: group offer vs. transient at risk
- Recommend: accept, accept with floor adjustment, decline, alternate dates

Review before you send. The output is a strong first draft, not a final answer. The skill asks for missing pieces before it writes, but you remain responsible for anything you send, sign, pay or publish.
