How to write a hotel daily flash report with Claude
The daily flash is the one-pager that runs the 9am stand-up. The General Manager skill builds it in a fixed shape — yesterday's results, today's operation, the next seven days, open issues by department, the week's risks and the three things the GM needs to decide today — formatted for a 10-minute stand-up, not a board meeting.
What you need
- Claude (Claude.ai in your browser — the free tier works for short tests — or Claude Code) with the General Manager skill loaded
- Yesterday's numbers — a PMS export (Opera, Stayntouch, Cloudbeds, Mews) or the figures pasted in
- Today's arrivals, departures, VIPs and group blocks
- Open issues from each department head
Step by step
- Load the General Manager skill. In Claude.ai, create a Project and paste the General Manager SKILL.md into its instructions — or run
npx hotel-team-skills installonce and use Claude Code, which picks the right skill from your prompt. - Give it yesterday and today. Paste or connect yesterday's occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and revenue, today's arrivals and departures, and any open department issues. If the shared Knowledge Base is connected, the skill reads the property brief from it.
- Ask for the flash. Ask: “Run today's daily flash report for the 9am standup.”
- Check every section is there. Yesterday, today, tomorrow / next 7 days, open issues by department, risks for the week, and three decisions for the GM. Every number should carry a comparison — vs. budget, vs. STLY or vs. the comp set.
- Keep it to one page. Review it, cut anything that won't matter in a 10-minute stand-up, and share it with the department heads before the meeting.
"Run today's daily flash report for the 9am standup."
What a good result covers
This is the workflow the General Manager skill follows, quoted from its SKILL.md:
Run the morning meeting (daily flash + standup)
Produce a one-page Daily Flash Report for the 9am stand-up:
- Yesterday: occupancy %, ADR, RevPAR, total revenue (rooms + F&B + other), GOP estimate, complaints, no-shows, walks
- Today: arrivals, departures, stayovers, VIPs, group blocks, special requests, F&B covers forecast
- Tomorrow / next 7: pickup, pace vs. STLY, OTB (on-the-books) revenue
- Open issues by department (Rooms, F&B, Engineering, Sales, Revenue) with a single-line status
- Risks for the week — staffing gaps, group cancels, rate fences breaking, comp set moving
- Three things the GM needs to decide today
Format it for a 10-minute standup, not a board meeting. One page.

Review before you send. The output is a strong first draft, not a final answer. The skill asks for missing pieces before it writes, but you remain responsible for anything you send, sign, pay or publish.
